3. Tax Return Information Is Specifically Protected Under Federal Law

Under IRC Section 7216, we are legally prohibited from disclosing or using your tax return information for anything other than preparing your return without your knowing written consent, or a specific regulatory exception under 26 CFR 301.7216-2. This is federal criminal law: unauthorized disclosure or use can carry criminal penalties plus a civil penalty per violation under IRC Section 6713. Any consent we request will follow the format required by IRS Revenue Procedure 2013-14, and you're free to decline.

Ask what we have on file, correct inaccuracies, request deletion subject to legal recordkeeping requirements, opt out of marketing (service communications continue), or ask questions about IRC 7216 consent.

As long as necessary to provide services and meet legal/recordkeeping obligations for tax preparers.
